Concert

Samsiu Garden Outdoor Concert

Oct 19th Sat. 16:00

Located in Dapi, Yunlin, The Samsiu Garden is the former residence of the poet Tiunn Tsing-siông, and it is also one of the few well-preserved century-old private gardens in Taiwan. Samsiu Garden used to be a gathering place for literati and scholars, and in recent years, after renovation, it has hosted many cultural and artistic activities, inheriting the legacy of poetry and literature from predecessors. The annual "Samsiu Garden Concert" held in autumn invites well-known musicians from both domestic and international scenes to perform, using music and art to bridge the gap between regions, thus becoming the annual musical extravaganza in the rural area of Dapi.

This year, for the first time, the "Samsiu Garden Concert" collaborated with the "Taiwan International Cello Festival," bringing this cross-border musical feast into the countryside of Yunlin, holding an outdoor concert amidst the garden landscape of Samsiu Garden. The concert will be led by the internationally active cellist, Pi-Chin Chien, together with the Academy of Taiwan Strings, performing exciting pieces a suite based on classic Taiwanese folk songs by Swiss composer Fabian Müller.

A special moment will occur towards the end of the concert. Anyone who plays the cello, even just a little, is invited to bring their instrument and join the orchestra in playing some easy-to-play folk songs from Taiwan and Switzerland. The scores for this event will be available for download on this website several weeks before the concert. Let's all come together to welcome the sunset with beautiful melodies and the resounding sound of cellos!
